As a passion project, I created a calendar for 2023 inspired by the mythological beauty of birthstones and flowers.

The ConceptTo make this calendar come together around a central theme, I gathered inspiration from every months' birthstones and flowers. This allowed me to find creativity within each field and get creative in photoshop to create unique new graphics. For the general layout of the calendar, I chose to follow a personal preference in style.
The Process — A New ChallengeI created this calendar as a passion project and was motivated to create a physical product instead of a digital one this time. Exploring an entire new medium such as a calendar was a challenge, but one I was happy to take on.

The Process — The Monthly PosterSince this calendar is intended to be printed on an A4 size, I really wanted to make use of the space I had to create interesting, detailed visuals. This project was also a new way for me to take my photoshop skills to a higher level. I created each poster as a daily challenge, and wanted to take on a new style that I usually don't do. I made use of more texture overlays, colourful palettes and even sometimes surreal compositions to bring the calendar to life.

The Process — The Cover
Although it may be a standout cover from the theme, I believed this cover was the perfect finishing touch to the calendar. Since my passions are represented in this product, I couldn't leave out my love for sculptures. I love to see the movement and emotion that gets told in these statues. For my calendar cover, I created a poster based on the 'Mercury and Psyche' by Reinhold Begas. It's one of my personal favourites, it feels like two different sides of one person were put on display. Since I personally related to it so much, it was the perfect cover to make the calendar truly mine.

The Final ProductThis calendar was a delight to create and really got me out of my digital comfort zone. I can't wait to see it realised and hanging on my wall soon.
